Cornerstone has announced the appointment of Michael Woods as its new General Counsel. In this role, Woods will oversee the organisation's legal function, leading a team of thirteen professionals. His responsibilities will include managing all legal matters affecting the business, including real estate, competition, commercial, and disputes.
Woods will provide legal support to the senior leadership team and the board, helping to ensure Cornerstone's compliance with regulatory frameworks while supporting its commercial and operational objectives. His responsibilities will include advising on matters relating to the Electronic Communications Code, which governs industry relations with landlords and infrastructure deployment. He will also oversee legal matters relating to planning and environmental regulations that affect the company's modernisation programmes.
Woods has a background in real estate, technology, and professional services, having held roles as General Counsel and Company Secretary across a range of sectors. He has managed legal, compliance, and governance functions across the UK and the EMEA region, and also spent time in Chicago with responsibility for the Americas. He holds a law degree from Trinity College Dublin and completed professional studies at Oxford.
His appointment comes as the sector continues to invest in next-generation networks. Woods' international experience will support Cornerstone as it operates within an evolving regulatory environment, with responsibility for overseeing legal compliance across the business.
