Intruder, an exposure management provider, has launched its Free Plan, providing small and mid-sized organisations with access to security tools at no cost. The initiative is designed to help IT and DevOps teams identify and address vulnerabilities across their environments.

Smaller businesses face many of the same cybersecurity threats as larger organisations but often have fewer resources and smaller security budgets available to manage them. This can make it more challenging to implement effective vulnerability management processes. In addition, smaller teams may rely on multiple disconnected security tools, which can contribute to alert fatigue and increase the risk of important exposures being missed.

Security Support for the Mid-Market

Research from Intruder on mid-market security teams indicates that many organisations find enterprise security platforms difficult to manage due to staffing requirements, cost, and operational complexity. At the same time, tools designed for smaller businesses may become insufficient as organisations grow, creating a gap between entry-level solutions and enterprise platforms.

Intruder’s Free Plan is designed to address this gap by providing access to security capabilities that help organisations identify vulnerabilities and prioritise issues based on potential risk. Removing cost barriers may allow more organisations to implement security processes without requiring an initial financial commitment.

Supporting SMB Security Procurement

Limited budgets can result in small businesses relying on manual processes or a combination of different security solutions, which may make risk management more difficult. Intruder’s Free Plan provides organisations with access to security visibility and remediation capabilities, allowing teams to evaluate the platform before moving to a paid plan if additional functionality is required.

The Free Plan provides security teams with the ability to:

  • Vulnerability Management: Conduct weekly scheduled scans for up to five external targets.
  • Cloud Security Posture Management: Perform weekly misconfiguration checks on one cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud).
  • Container Image Scanning: Scan up to two container images per week.
  • Attack Surface Monitoring: Monitor changes on ports 80 and 443.
  • Remediation Validation: Run unlimited remediation scans to confirm fixes.
  • Cyber Hygiene Score: Track security posture over time using a baseline score.
  • AI Pentesting: Use one automated investigation credit each month.
  • Team Access: Provide access for up to three users.

These capabilities are intended to help organisations improve visibility across their digital environments and support ongoing vulnerability management activities.
