Dell Technologies enhances security for quantum and AI challenges

Dell expands its security measures to help protect organisations against quantum computing and AI threats, enhancing cyber resilience and threat detection.

Dell Technologies has announced new strategies focused on enhancing security against emerging threats from quantum computing and artificial intelligence (AI). The company’s approach prioritises securing devices and data platforms to address the complexities of future cybersecurity challenges.

With the advent of quantum computing, existing encryption frameworks protecting devices face new risks. Dell is introducing quantum-ready security features in its commercial PC lines, embedding protection within firmware layers to address threats that traditional security solutions may not detect.

By strengthening the PC’s embedded controller—a key hardware security component—Dell aims to improve firmware integrity. Updates are validated using advanced encryption methods, reducing vulnerabilities in the supply chain.

Dell also emphasises resilience to minimise the impact of cyber incidents. Research cited by Dell shows that only 40% of organisations can manage and recover from cyber incidents effectively without major disruption. To support this, Dell has enhanced its PowerProtect portfolio with AI-driven threat detection and faster recovery capabilities.

PowerProtect Data Manager now offers improved system management and faster resolution of recovery challenges, particularly during ransomware incidents. Solutions like PowerProtect Data Domain seek to enable quicker backup and restoration, supporting efficient post-incident operations.

As AI workloads increase, Dell is expanding threat detection beyond traditional endpoints. Its Managed Detection and Response (MDR) service now includes environments such as Dell PowerScale, aiming to provide greater visibility over AI data platforms.

Enhanced monitoring, combined with cybersecurity analysts, aims for prompt detection of malicious activity and automated response measures.

Additionally, Dell has introduced an Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR)-exclusive solution to enhance real-time monitoring of endpoints and support investigation and mitigation of threats.

These updates from Dell Technologies represent a security approach aimed at protecting organisations against both quantum computing and AI-related threats, supporting a more secure digital environment.
