Datum Datacentres and Farnborough College: building futures together

Datum Datacentres strengthens ties with local students through educational visits and work placements, fostering future careers in digital infrastructure.

Recently, Datum Datacentres hosted groups of students from Farnborough College of Technology at its site in Farnborough. This activity continues a tour programme that began last year and maintains ongoing engagement between the two institutions.

The students, who are studying T Levels in Support and Security and Software Development, visited an operational data centre environment. The visit provided insight into how data centres support the digital economy. As part of the programme, the students also received information about sustainability practices at Datum’s London edge and Manchester sites.

The visit also included a viewing of the construction of FRN2, Datum’s second London edge data centre, which is located next to the FRN1 facility in Farnborough.

Farnborough College of Technology students were given exposure to aspects of the digital infrastructure sector and potential career pathways through the visit.

These educational visits form part of ongoing engagement between the college and Datum Datacentres, with the aim of providing students with direct experience of industry environments and related career options.
