Online roundtable: Data centres: The energy innovation opportunity

Free Online Roundtable with ENEL X, DCA & Host in Ireland, 12th November 2020 at 14:00 GMT.

Data centres: The energy innovation opportunity, our virtual roundtable event, will look at the apparent contradictory demands of digital business and the environment, seeking to take the energy efficiency debate to the next level – Energy Efficiency 2.0 if you will. Bearing in mind the data centre’s primary function, just how practical, sensible, desirable and achievable are a whole range of energy innovations opportunities?

And just where does the balance lie, between allowing unchecked data centre expansion, with a corresponding increase in power consumption, and the greenest of green data centres, where reliability and performance have been sacrificed on the environmental altar? Few of us are willing to give up our smartphones, tablets, laptops, TVs and numerous other connected devices which feed off the data hosted in data centres, so is it reasonable to expect data centres to shoulder the sustainability burden alone, or is data lifecycle management an important part of the solution?

Topics covered during the event include: Demand response; Power purchase agreements (PPAs); Waste heat re-use; Renewable energy; Decarbonisation; Microgrids/off-grid power; Liquid cooling; Data lifecycle management.

By the end of the roundtable, we are confident that all attendees will have gained many valuable insights as to how sustainable data centres enabling digital transformation can leverage energy innovation way beyond current approaches.
