Jamf, a provider of solutions for managing and securing Apple devices in the workplace, has launched its premium threat hunting service, Beacon by Jamf Threat Labs. The solution is designed to help security teams address challenges in detecting and analysing threats by providing proactive threat detection and detailed analysis specifically focused on macOS environments.

As organisations continue to expand their use of Apple technologies, macOS devices are increasingly targeted by sophisticated cyber threats. However, many security teams may not have the specialised skills or resources required to effectively monitor and respond to these threats. Beacon addresses this by integrating Jamf Threat Labs’ research capabilities and security expertise into customer environments, providing threat hunting, investigation, and reporting services tailored to Apple ecosystems.

Beacon by Jamf Threat Labs supports enterprise security through three key components:

Apple-focused Threat Hunting:
This component provides organisations with access to macOS threat hunters who have expertise in Apple security frameworks, threat actor techniques, and attack methods. Using Jamf’s telemetry, the service delivers tailored threat hunting and reporting capabilities to customers.

Threat Intelligence Through Apple-native Telemetry:
The service uses Jamf’s Mac telemetry, built on Apple’s Endpoint Security API, to provide Jamf Threat Labs with insights that help identify Apple-specific attack techniques, monitor unusual activity, and detect potentially suspicious behaviour across Mac environments. This enables security teams to prioritise investigations, reduce attacker dwell time, and improve threat response across macOS devices.

Actionable Guidance with Operational Control:
When threats are identified, Jamf Threat Labs provides detailed investigation reports with recommended remediation steps. Internal IT and security teams retain control over containment actions and policy decisions, allowing them to manage responses according to their operational requirements.

Available as an add-on service for Jamf for Mac and Jamf for Mac Hi-Ed users, Beacon extends the capabilities of Jamf Threat Labs within customer environments. The service is intended to help organisations strengthen security measures across their Apple ecosystems.
