Kao Data appoints Spencer Lamb as CEO to lead AI-focused growth

Kao Data welcomes Spencer Lamb as CEO to drive AI infrastructure growth across the UK.

Kao Data has announced Spencer Lamb as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO). This move marks the culmination of an evolution designed to accelerate the company's growth.

Spencer, who joined Kao Data in January 2020, brings over two decades of international experience in the data centre industry. Previously serving as Managing Director and Chief Commercial Officer (CCO), he now steps into his new role alongside David Bloom, Founder and Executive Chair.

As CEO, Spencer will oversee operational leadership and tactical growth across Kao Data's expanding UK platform. A key focus will be the enhancement of its AI-ready data centre capacity, aiming to ensure that the company's design and delivery continue to meet the rapidly evolving demands of AI and high-density computing.

Working closely with David Bloom, who maintains his role as Executive Chairman, Spencer will help steer the future direction of the Kao Data platform. This includes capital structure decisions, strategic partnerships, and fostering long-term growth strategies.

During his six years with Kao Data, Spencer successfully drove the company's go-to-market strategy, securing key customers in the cloud, AI, enterprise, and financial services sectors. He has played a key role in the development of the Harlow campus into a hub for high-performance computing, AI, scientific research, and life sciences.

Spencer's proactive commitment to developing UK-based AI infrastructure has made him a respected leader in the data centre industry. By working with both local and central government, he has championed the role data centres play in the UK's digital economy, advocating for alignment with the national grid and energy expansion plans to foster AI and economic growth.

Aligned with its core values of nurturing talent from within, Kao Data anticipates continued influence in the UK's AI infrastructural landscape under Spencer's direction.
