euNetworks reveals new long-haul network route between Frankfurt and Strasbourg

euNetworks has launched a new fibre route between Frankfurt and Strasbourg as part of its FLAP-D network.

euNetworks has introduced a new long-haul fibre route between Frankfurt and Strasbourg as part of its Super Highway infrastructure. The development is intended to support increased demand for AI and cloud connectivity within the FLAP-D region (Frankfurt, London, Amsterdam, Paris, Dublin).

The route spans 247 km and uses high-capacity fibre designed to avoid existing congested paths. It provides a direct connection between Frankfurt’s core network and Strasbourg’s long-haul hub, aiming to improve route diversity and network resilience, with associated effects on performance across the corridor.

The infrastructure connects more than 76 data centres within the Frankfurt metropolitan area and provides access to over 600 connected data centres across Europe. This forms part of euNetworks’ broader network used to support data transport requirements across the region.

From a sustainability perspective, two of the three ILA sites on the route are equipped with air conditioning systems intended to reduce power consumption. The use of advanced fibre types is also associated with reduced attenuation and lower operational costs.

This deployment completes a new segment of euNetworks’ Super Highways, adding another fibre route within the FLAP-D network and expanding connectivity options across the existing infrastructure.
