IBM launches FlashSystem with AI capabilities

IBM unveils the new autonomous storage FlashSystem, integrating advanced agentic AI to redefine resilience and operational efficiency for enterprises.

IBM has introduced the latest iteration of its FlashSystem, incorporating agentic AI to enhance storage solutions. The system is designed to improve resilience through autonomous threat analysis and tailored recovery recommendations, aiming to reduce manual storage management by up to 90%.

The release features three new models – FlashSystem 5600, 7600, and 9600 – offering up to 40% improved data efficiency, increasing both capacity and performance:

  • FlashSystem 5600: Provides enterprise-class capabilities in a compact 1U system with up to 2.5 PBe of capacity, suitable for space-constrained environments.
  • FlashSystem 7600: Supports large workloads with up to 7.2 PBe in a 2U system, appropriate for virtualised environments and consolidated applications.
  • FlashSystem 9600: Designed for mission-critical operations, offering up to 11.8 PBe in a 2U system, capable of supporting AI-driven applications.
FlashSystem.ai delivers intelligent data services, automating administration and maintenance across the storage ecosystem. The platform executes thousands of automated decisions daily, supporting organisations in streamlining operations and aligning with trends in AI-driven workflow automation.

The fifth-generation FlashCore Module provides real-time ransomware detection, data reduction, and advanced telemetry. With up to 105TB capacity, it uses hardware-accelerated analytics to deliver rapid ransomware alerts and autonomous recovery at the hardware level.

FlashSystem.ai allows storage to adapt over time, using operational data to suggest and implement performance improvements. Supported by IBM Technology Lifecycle Services, the platform provides AI-enabled monitoring and proactive issue resolution, enhancing operational reliability and efficiency.
