Momentum deploys Ciena’s 400ZR technology

Managed services provider adds massive capacity to support enterprise-grade cloud communications.

Momentum, a leading global provider of managed cloud services and next-gen managed network solutions, is utilizing Ciena's (NYSE: CIEN) Waveserver 5 compact interconnect platform, powered by WaveLogic 5 Nano (WL5n) 400ZR coherent pluggable transceivers, for high-speed, high-capacity connectivity to cloud computing platforms, such as Microsoft’s Azure.

Momentum is moving to 400G technology to address strong growth in the metro and increased opportunities stemming from its work as a Microsoft Azure ExpressRoute partner. Its public sector, healthcare, finance, entertainment, and sports customers now benefit from a more agile, scalable, and reliable network. Ciena’s WL5n 400ZR solution—the lowest-power, highest-performing 400ZR in the industry—enables Momentum to increase its connectivity offerings to 400Gb/s per channel, improve its cloud offerings, and reduce its carbon footprint by decreasing power consumption and space requirements.

Momentum is also using Ciena’s edge-optimized, compact Coherent ELS open line system to achieve lower latency and operational simplicity while delivering higher-quality experiences to its customers. End-to-end network visibility and assurance is provided by Ciena’s Manage, Control and Plan (MCP) domain controller.
