Colt Technology Services has formed a strategic partnership with Equinix, Inc. to interconnect the Colt IQ Network with Equinix’s cloud ecosystem.

Today, Colt enterprise customers already benefit from connectivity to public and private clouds including Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud Platform through Colt’s Dedicated Cloud Access service, and inter-data centre connectivity through Colt DCNet.

Thanks to the partnership with Equinix, and interconnecting to the Equinix Cloud Exchange™, Colt will expand its ecosystem even wider to include access to more than 50 cloud service providers. Colt customers will also benefit from direct, secure, high-bandwidth connectivity to Equinix’s global platform of data centres across key metro areas, enabling information-intensive enterprises to accelerate innovation by rapidly incorporating cloud offerings from one of the largest business ecosystems worldwide.

Reversely, Equinix customers will be able to benefit from “On Demand” connectivity services based on the Colt IQ Network, which is one of the first to connect on demand, pay-as-you-go capabilities into Equinix data centres in Europe. Customers can provision and scale bandwidth requirements up and down in near real time, and also gain access to connectivity from enterprise buildings to the cloud through Colt’s Dedicated Cloud Access.

“Connectivity lies at the heart of today’s enterprises, whether they are currently undergoing digital transformation or are already digital natives. By partnering with Equinix, we expand our digital ecosystem to bring the power of the cloud right to the heart of the intelligent enterprise,” said Tom Regent, Chief Commercial Officer, Colt. “Flexible, scalable, on-demand connectivity to cloud services, combined with the scale of Colt’s offering sets a new standard in service.”

“In order to drive effective digital transformation, global enterprises must be able to access ubiquitous cloud services wherever they are, whenever they need to,” said Jim Poole, Vice President,  Ecosystem Development at Equinix. “Working together, Colt and Equinix can leverage their complementary positions in the cloud ecosystem to help businesses meet these needs and accelerate their digital transformation. Colt’s on-demand services provide an innovative way of delivering flexible connectivity, consumed via a portal and delivered in real time.”
