Boomi, the data activation company, has announced its intention to acquire Lunar.dev, a company working on AI and MCP gateway solutions. The acquisition is expected to expand the Boomi Enterprise Platform with additional capabilities for governing and scaling AI within enterprise environments.

In current enterprise environments, moving from AI experimentation to production often involves managing how AI applications and agents interact at scale. Lunar.dev provides an AI gateway designed to offer policy-driven control over these interactions, with an emphasis on visibility, security, and performance to support deployment from pilot to production.

The proposed acquisition focuses on AI governance and control, with the aim of providing organizations with both centralised and decentralised approaches to managing AI interactions. This includes:
  • Enforcing policy governance across AI interactions
  • Securing AI access to enterprise data
  • Providing visibility into AI activity, including prompts and downstream actions
  • Supporting scalable AI operations with performance considerations
  • Offering deployment flexibility with tenant control across on-premises, private cloud, and other environments
Additionally, the integration of Lunar.dev into Boomi Connect is expected to extend connectivity between AI tools such as Claude and Copilot and enterprise applications. A new MCP gateway would provide:
  • Cost management and observability
  • Scalable AI connectivity across hybrid and multi-cloud environments
With the Boomi MCP Registry, organisations would be able to discover, govern, and manage AI services through a centralised catalog spanning Boomi and third-party environments. These capabilities position Boomi Connect as a platform for governed agent connectivity, supporting enterprise use of AI at scale.
