With over 20 years of sales and marketing experience, McDonnell joins Talend from his most recent role at Informatica, where he spent eight years developing business in emerging markets and building an indirect sales model.
“McDonnell’s experience in developing go-to-market strategies in new territories is a tremendous addition to the team, as we look to build upon our legacy of success in Europe by growing market share in the Netherlands, Italy, Spain and broader EMEA,” said Fran?ois Mero, Senior Vice President of Sales, EMEA, Talend. “Under McDonnell’s leadership, Talend will be better equipped to help customers along their journey in realising the benefits of big data for their business.”
McDonnell’s appointment represents a significant step in Talend’s mission to tackle market opportunities across a broader range of geographic regions. The growing demand for big data is fueling the company’s exponential growth, having recently reported that Talend Big Data has been the company’s fastest-growing product in 2015, with an impressive increase in new subscription bookings of 136 percent in Q3 year-to-date. Talend also continues to be on the leading edge of big data innovation with the launch of Talend 6, the first and only integration software with support for Apache Spark, the new and very fast data processing engine.
“Talend has significant leadership in the big data arena, and my goal is to leverage this position to establish our presence and network in these new countries,” said McDonnell. “Companies are looking for a vendor that has the vision and technology that will help them embrace the era of big data and wield it for their overall business success. That’s Talend, and I am excited to be part of this winning team.”
Prior to joining Informatica in 2007, McDonnell worked at Iona/Progress where he developed the firm’s business and OEM relationships in continental Europe. He earned a bachelor of sciences degree in management with honors from Trinity College, Dublin, completed post-graduate work in marketing techniques at Dublin Institute of Technology, and has a certificate in Software Engineering, from Griffith College Dublin. He lives in Dublin, Ireland.
