eSentire introduces Atlas Preempt capability for AI-driven security simulation

eSentire has announced Atlas Preempt, a new capability within its Atlas Platform. The system is designed to carry out continuous, AI-driven offensive security simulations intended to identify potential vulnerabilities in customer environments.

The findings generated by Atlas Preempt are integrated into eSentire’s 24/7 Managed Detection and Response (MDR) service. The approach uses AI-based simulation of adversarial techniques to help validate threats in real time and support prioritisation of identified exposures.

Key features of Atlas Preempt include:

• Threat Intelligence: Uses research aligned with global law enforcement sources to support threat detection and hunting activities.
• Vulnerability Scanning: Conducts assessments that feed into testing processes and risk prioritisation.
• Attack Surface Discovery: Identifies both known and previously unknown potential vulnerabilities to expand visibility of exposure.
• AI-led autonomous penetration testing: Performs ongoing testing to evaluate potential security weaknesses.

The broader threat environment is described as increasingly complex, with more automated attack capabilities emerging through advanced AI systems. In this context, Atlas Preempt is positioned as a tool for simulating attacker techniques and translating vulnerability data into prioritised risk information based on exploitability rather than severity scoring alone.

The system uses autonomous AI components to simulate attack scenarios and validate vulnerabilities against existing exposure management systems, combining reconnaissance methods with threat intelligence inputs.

In one reported case, the technology was used to identify and address an exposure affecting an electronic medical record (EMR) provider, which was stated to involve protection of more than 20 million patient records.

Additional capabilities:

• Asset discovery: Identifies potentially overlooked IT assets and includes them in vulnerability prioritisation processes.
• Cloud security validation: Tests for misconfigurations by simulating exploitation scenarios.
• Audit trails: Produces records of security-related actions for compliance and insurance purposes.

Atlas Preempt is scheduled to become available to eSentire customers on June 19, 2026, as part of the Atlas Platform. A 30-day trial of the platform is also being offered to customers.
