Alteryx, a company in the data and analytics sector, has partnered with the Marine Conservation Society, a UK charity focused on ocean protection. As part of this collaboration, the organisation has been using the Alteryx One platform, which has resulted in an reported 80% reduction in data processing time.

The partnership began following a beach clean event in May 2025, where both organisations connected over shared environmental interests. The Marine Conservation Society’s Beachwatch programme, which has collected over 30 years of data, presented increasing challenges due to growing data volume and complexity.

Previously, the charity relied heavily on spreadsheets and manual processes for data analysis, which limited speed and efficiency. They also explored other data tools, but found that some required technical expertise that was not always readily available within the organisation.

Since adopting Alteryx One, the Marine Conservation Society has introduced more automated workflows across projects such as Beachwatch and citizen science initiatives. This has reduced the time required for certain data processing tasks and improved overall efficiency.

The organisation is now able to more easily clean, standardise, and visualise different types of data. These outputs are used to support reporting and contribute to discussions around marine litter and pollution.

The improved data capability has also supported the charity’s contribution to policy discussions and environmental legislation debates. Tools such as visual mapping and heatmaps are used to help communicate findings to policymakers and wider audiences.

Overall, the partnership has supported the Marine Conservation Society in improving how it processes and presents environmental data, enabling it to respond more quickly to emerging issues and continue its work in marine conservation.
