Acronis has launched Acronis GenAI Protection, a solution designed to support the management and security of generative AI use in organisational environments. The development comes as businesses increasingly integrate AI tools, alongside emerging risks such as data leaks, unauthorised AI activity, and potentially harmful AI-generated prompts.

The launch forms part of the evolution of Acronis Cyber Workspace, with planned future developments aimed at integrating a broader AI workspace within the platform. As AI adoption grows, the secure deployment and management of these technologies is becoming a focus area.

Consumer-oriented AI tools often lack enterprise-level visibility and security controls, while some enterprise solutions may not be optimised for delivery through Managed Service Providers (MSPs). Acronis GenAI Protection is positioned to support MSPs in managing and securing AI use across small and medium-sized business environments.

The solution aims to enable MSPs to oversee and manage AI usage within customer environments through a centralised console integrated into the existing Acronis platform. This allows service providers to monitor AI activity, apply policies, and address potential risks.

Acronis GenAI Protection is designed to provide visibility and security controls for AI interactions across data, applications, and endpoints. The MSP role in supporting AI adoption is also a key consideration in the design of the solution.

Key capabilities include:

  • Shadow AI visibility: Detection and monitoring of unauthorised or unapproved AI applications within customer environments to assess potential exposure.
  • Sensitive data safeguards: Review of AI interactions for sensitive information to help prevent unintended sharing with external AI tools.
  • Protection against AI misuse: Identification and blocking of prompts that may attempt to manipulate AI systems or disrupt processes.

Acronis plans to further develop its AI-related capabilities within the Cyber Workspace platform, with a focus on security, operational efficiency, and automation.

As AI becomes more embedded in business operations, tools such as Acronis GenAI Protection are intended to support organisations and service providers in managing AI usage while maintaining security and data protection controls.
