Spectra Logic, a data management company, and Geyser Data have launched their first European tape-as-a-service deployment in London, expanding their cloud-based archive storage model.
With the addition of the London location, customers can now store and retrieve data in Europe, alongside the existing Los Angeles site.
As organisations move cold data to the cloud, some encounter additional costs related to data retrieval and API usage, which can affect long-term storage planning. Some businesses use on-premises tape libraries to manage these costs, while Geyser Data offers a cloud-based archive option with predictable pricing.
Through this service, hosting providers can deploy local archive infrastructure and deliver services via the Geyser Data platform. Spectra Logic provides the tape library infrastructure, while Geyser Data offers an Amazon S3-compatible interface for access.
The model is designed to support long-term data retention. Local providers operate the infrastructure, allowing customers to use a consistent archive service across different locations.
The London deployment is hosted in a Digital Realty facility, providing a carrier-neutral interconnection environment for enterprise and hybrid data workflows.
The expansion to London is part of Geyser Data’s broader international rollout. In addition to its U.S. presence, the company has announced plans for a deployment in Brazil.
Customers can access archive services through the Geyser Data portal in London or Los Angeles, with a 30-day trial available at both locations.
