Commvault strengthens partnerships with Delinea and Pinecone

Commvault partners with Delinea and Pinecone to enhance security and resilience for enterprises, centralising credential management and safeguarding AI data.

Commvault, a data protection and cyber resilience software provider, has announced a new partnership and technology integration with Delinea, a provider of privileged access management (PAM) solutions. This collaboration aims to improve credential security and streamline data recovery by integrating the Commvault Cloud platform with Delinea’s Secret Server.

Amid ongoing concerns around compromised privileged identities and their role in security incidents, this partnership aims to empower customers to centralise credential management, eliminate unmanaged accounts, and ensure credentials are securely stored and rotated. The introduction of Just-in-Time (JIT) access issues temporary credentials for each backup, minimising the risk of misuse. Additionally, the ability to enforce least privilege access supports audit and compliance capabilities in alignment with standards like SOX and GDPR.

The partners’ collaboration hopes to yield benefits such as reduced operational complexity, enhanced IT efficiency, faster threat response, and greater compliance support.

Commvault further extends its horizon by partnering with Pinecone to build AI stacks against emerging threats, particularly those targeting retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) AI applications. This partnership aims for advanced point-in-time recovery (PITR) and immutable backups for vector retrieval workloads.

Pinecone, a provider of vector database technology, facilitates AI processes such as training and context-aware response generation. Until recently, enterprises, especially in regulated industries, faced challenges in safeguarding vector data. Commvault’s solutions now provide immutable backup and point-in-time recovery (PITR) while maintaining query latency, supporting AI data resilience.

Commvault's collaboration with Pinecone seeks to provide the following functional advantages:

  • Accelerated PITR: It facilitates restoring vector indexes to their prior state, ensuring minimal downtime and preserving quality for RAG inference.
  • Enhanced Protection: Backups are encrypted and air-gapped, providing clean recovery from malicious injections or accidental deletions.
  • Unified Cyber Resilience: The platform offers protection for Pinecone deployments across AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud.
  • Compliance Support: It maintains auditable copies to fulfil governance and regulatory needs in AI workflows.

The collaboration with Delinea and Pinecone illustrates how Commvault is extending cyber resilience and compliance capabilities across enterprise environments.
