Ground Control, a specialist based between the UK and US in satellite IoT devices and platforms, has been acquired by CLS. This acquisition strengthens CLS’s stance in the burgeoning satellite IoT market, enhancing capabilities in delivering environmental and security solutions.

With a focus on growth, this marks CLS's 18th acquisition since 2008. The company has carved a niche by pioneering satellite data collection long before the age of GPS.

As a subsidiary of the CNES (French Space Agency) and investment entity CNP, CLS champions satellite IoT solutions on a global scale. Ground Control complements and diversifies this ecosystem with its rugged satellite hardware and cloud management solutions, such as the RockBLOCK and RockREMOTE devices, alongside the comprehensive Cloudloop platform.

Integrating these strengths, CLS and Ground Control together provide an enriched technological suite, serving a wide array of sectors with interoperable solutions.

By joining forces, Ground Control aligns its operations with CLS’s expansive reach of 35 offices and over 1,100 employees. This merger fosters a robust client experience, offering seamless interaction through an integrated ecosystem, richer research capabilities, and a mutual drive for sustainable innovation.

In concluding the deal, Ground Control leaned on advice from HCR for legal matters and IAGC for financial counsel. Meanwhile, CLS was supported by legal firms Capital Law in the UK and Meister Seelig & Fein in the USA.

Combining CLS’s distinguished track record of delivering space-based IoT services with Ground Control’s hardware, becomes a testament to their collective vision for a sustainable future.
