Evonik, one of the world’s leading specialty chemicals companies, has appointed NTT DATA to support the protection of its production facilities against cyber threats, thereby safeguarding operations and maintaining compliance responsibilities.

The five-year strategic partnership will see NTT DATA deliver and run a fully managed Security Operations Centre (SOC), as well as providing multilingual technical support. NTT DATA will also provide round-the-clock monitoring, threat detection, and rapid response for Evonik’s production sites globally.

“Evonik operates in over 100 countries worldwide, maintaining a high level of technological expertise and operational excellence across our global businesses. Consequently, we have sought a strategic partner capable of delivering and managing security solutions on a global scale, as well as providing multilingual technical support," says Dr. Heidi Grön, Senior Vice President Production & Technology at the Smart Materials division of Evonik.

As Evonik's trusted cybersecurity advisor, NTT DATA will adapt its services to meet emerging challenges, deliver a consistent high quality of managed security services and support the company's digital resilience for years to come.

“As a global specialty chemicals company, it is important that we appoint a strategic partner with the reach and presence to protect our production facilities and provide tailored support across all of our operating regions,” emphasizes Thomas Schiffer, Head of IT at Evonik. “We have selected NTT DATA as our partner due to its extensive technical and professional expertise in the field of OT security, which will be invaluable in helping us tackle the ever-evolving cyber threats to our production.”

“Cybercrime is on the rise worldwide, becoming increasingly sophisticated, and has evolved into a profitable business model. It is no longer just about complying with legal requirements like NIS2, today, companies must proactively address threats, anticipate future risks and ensure their own ability to act,” explains Stefan Hansen, CEO and chairman of the board of NTT DATA DACH. “We are pleased that our end-to-end cybersecurity solutions have earned Evonik’s trust, and we are now excited to launch this project together.”
