BCS launches utilities division

BCS Group (Business Critical Solutions), the specialist services provider to the digital infrastructure industry, has launched a new operating unit as part of its ongoing expansion strategy which follows the recent development of its German business arm.

BCS Utilities is focused implementing strategies that generate cost savings and efficiencies for organisations through specialist advice on the choice and delivery of utilities including power, water, gas, drainage telecoms and district heating. Services will include the creation of a bespoke Utilities Strategy, the project management of subsequent deployments and ongoing review for both new and legacy buildings. Key considerations will include commercial modelling, legislative and regulatory requirements. technical capabilities, as well as consideration for sustainability and decarbonisation.

Rees Westley has been appointed to head up the new venture. He joins from AECOM, where he was a senior Utilities and Energy Consultant and brings with him over 15 years senior level experience. He will be responsible for providing further support to BCS’ existing critical infrastructure clients, whilst targeting new clients in a range of other sectors including property, education and the public sector.

James Hart, CEO at BCS Group, said: “We believe that utilities is a specialist area that is often overlooked and can benefit greatly from expertise and understanding of the industry, the providers, the networks, the regulations and when to deploy the appropriate strategy. The right solution can result in cost efficiencies which can be as high as 80% and with power costs and availability increasingly becoming a key focus for the datacentre industry, alongside sustainability and decarbonisation, we believe this new service will be invaluable for both existing and new clients.”
