Fujitsu provides IoT Cloud infrastructure for Swedish real estate firm

One of Sweden’s largest real estate companies, Akademiska Hus, has selected Fujitsu to develop a cloud-based Internet of Things (IoT) infrastructure solution to digitalise its office environment, support growth and reduce energy costs for customers.

The property group will implement Fujitsu PRIMEFLEX for VMware Cloud Foundation, a highly-scalable IT architecture which combines the high performance and energy efficiency of Fujitsu PRIMERGY servers with the flexibility and scalability of VMWare’s integrated hybrid cloud platform.

Recognising that its rapid expansion had outgrown its previous IT capabilities, Akademiska Hus decided to upgrade its IT infrastructure to support its ongoing expansion and to create a modern, activity-based working environment enabling employees to work flexibly, including access to corporate systems from remote locations.

Smart systems will be deployed to manage room bookings and office systems such as lighting and ventilation, while embedded sensors will immediately flag any technical failures and automatically send maintenance requests. These features will deliver cost savings, however the property group also plans to generate new revenues by harnessing and mining the large pool of properties’ energy efficiency-related information as the basis for developing future power-saving solutions that it can offer commercially.
