Cloudhouse will power GE Healthcare’s Centricity Business Virtual Access, which enables hospitals to deploy and upgrade Centricity Business with a single click. This “easy-click” deployment helps to remove barriers to adoption for hospital users by reducing roll-out time and costs for the initial set-up and software upgrades.
“Our goal is to bring our customers the best solutions and that includes offering a seamless way integrate and use our applications,” said Shiv Gopalkrishnan, Vice President and General Manager, GE Healthcare. “Using the Cloudhouse technology will not only bring operational efficiencies in deploying and updating our applications, but seamlessly connects the application to their current hospital system.”
Virtual Access will use Cloudhouse’s patented application virtualization technology to package all the components of Centricity Business within a Cloudhouse open container. The container overcomes frequently encountered incompatibilities between locally installed browser releases, application libraries and operating systems so that the user can just “click and run” irrespective of desktop configuration. Unlike other application virtualization technologies, the open nature of Cloudhouse containers mean that complex integrations between Centricity Business and third party applications are completely preserved.
“The challenge faced by GE Healthcare is common to many software providers and corporate IT shops. Application software, including web applications, is often deployed into complex environments where multiple systems interoperate with one another but often end up conflicting,” explains Nick Harmer, CEO of Cloudhouse. “Many times, we see customers turn to extreme measures, such as deploying applications via server-based computing, at great cost and complexity, simply to manage conflict. Using our open container technology, GE can provide its customers a solution to deploy applications at a fraction of the time and cost of previous mechanisms.”
