As cloud adoption booms, governments around the world are increasingly strengthening data privacy laws designed to prohibit the disclosure or misuse of information held on private citizens. To enable enterprises to understand the multitude of data protection laws around the world, CipherCloud, a cloud security leader, today introduces its Global Compliance Resource Center, a dynamic library of reference materials to help organisations navigate the complex web of global data privacy laws.

The resource centre provides an invaluable starting point for enterprises that are grappling with compliance issues associated with data that crosses national boundaries. An interactive map and downloadable guide compares privacy regulations in 83 countries and across 6 continents - Americas, Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia. Detailed information for each country includes:
· Summary of relevant data protection laws
· Overview of security requirements
· Definitions of personal data and sensitive personal data
· Restrictions on data transfer across borders
· Data Breach notification requirements
· National enforcement authority with contact information and links

“Data in the cloud inevitably crosses borders, forcing enterprises to comply with a maze of regulations around the world,” said Willy Leichter, Global Director of Cloud Security, CipherCloud. “We created this resource center to help global businesses understand what laws apply as they design security strategies to protect their sensitive data and stay up to date with the latest regulations.”

In addition to privacy laws, the resource centre provides details on regulatory requirements for financial services, healthcare, payment cards, EU directives and US state breach notification laws, as well as blog posts, and whitepapers on a range of data compliance issues.
