Nitro, a leading provider of document productivity and workflow solutions, today announced that it has reached 500,000 customers globally as one of Ireland’s largest commercial and retail banks, Allied Irish Bank (AIB), signed on to roll out Nitro to over 1,000 employees. Nitro has experienced over 50% customer growth in EMEA since opening its Dublin office early last year, with 26% of Nitro’s European customers now hailing from the UK.

AIB will use Nitro to improve efficiencies and save money by simplifying how its employees create, edit, sign, and share digital documents. With the UK boasting one of the world’s largest financial sectors, Nitro is aiming to rapidly increase its customer base within the financial services sector and the UK is a key market for Nitro with dedicated account managers already in place to service the region and further roles planned.

Nitro established its EMEA headquarters in Dublin in January 2014 with plans to hire 50 employees in its first two years of operation. Since then, growth expectations have doubled with plans to hire over 100 staff by the end of 2016. Following a $15 million funding round from Battery Ventures in November, plans are also now underway to open an EMEA data centre in Ireland by the end of this year.

Nitro’s Founder and CEO Sam Chandler said: “We’re thrilled to welcome AIB on board as our 500,000th customer and to achieve such a significant milestone for the business and our team. Over the past 18 months, we’ve doubled down on growth across all regions and it’s great to see customers like AIB leveraging Nitro to close contracts faster, collaborate more efficiently, modernise their document processes, save money, and do it all more elegantly and securely than the old ways of paper and email.”

Enda Quain, Head of Technology Integration and Assurance AIB, said: “We’ve started using Nitro within our organisation and have been blown away by how much faster, more functional and cost-effective it is compared to what we used before. From a business perspective, this move was a complete no-brainer because Nitro is twice as fast at a fraction of the cost with savings in excess of a hundred thousand euro”.
