Connected announces its award-winning Transporter private cloud storage products now offer Versions. This new feature enables users to restore older versions of files that have been accidentally overwritten and also recover files and folders that have been accidentally deleted. Versions is a key feature of the new Transporter Desktop 2.7 software that is now available to all Transporter users.

As the world’s first peer-to-peer private storage device, Transporter is a completely private alternative to public cloud offerings. Now along with being able to restore previous versions of files and undelete files and folders, users can see a full audit trail of changes, including who took those actions and when.

“We have made tremendous progress with Transporter since it launched in early 2013 and continue to add features and functions that are valuable to our tens of thousands of customers,” said Jim Sherhart, vice president of marketing, Connected Data. “The addition of Transporter Versions is significant in that it provides our users critical peace-of-mind knowing their data is now protected from accidental modification or deletion without having to sacrifice the complete privacy and control that only Transporter can provide.”

Unlike competing cloud storage solutions that require premium services to store more than a few versions, Transporter Versions will preserve an unlimited amount of versions as long as there is space available on the device. If the Transporter runs low on capacity, only the oldest versions will be removed as needed to make space for new files. To further preserve valuable space on limited capacity laptops and tablets, previous versions are only stored on Transporters.

Transporter can be used as a standalone private cloud or automatically synced with other Transporters allowing professionals and businesses to easily and inexpensively protect valuable files in multiple locations while also creating a private network of shared files with co-workers, colleagues, friends and family members. Combining this capability with Versions makes Transporter an extremely compelling solution for any small business struggling to find an inexpensive and simple way to protect and control critical assets while also delivering the seamless cloud sharing and remote access experience that employees desire.
