Cleversafe and Nasuni announce storage partnership

Cleversafe, Inc. and Nasuni have entered into a strategic partnership, enabling reliable, cost-effective, cloud-integrated storage for distributed organizations.

With Cleversafe Dispersed Storage® Network (dsNet®) technology and Nasuni Filers, enterprises can deploy unified storage, backup and multi-site disaster recovery into a single storage system that enables centralized control, integrated backup and significant cost savings – especially as data grows to the Petabyte-level and beyond. With this combined solution, distributed offices and mobile employees can access a single global fileshare that makes collaboration and centralized data protection possible, regardless of a user’s physical location.

“By combining a unified storage solution with the power of scalable private cloud storage, Nasuni and Cleversafe are enabling businesses to simplify their storage infrastructure and consolidate their collaboration, data protection and disaster recovery systems,” said Warren Mead, Vice President of Business Development, Nasuni. “An all-in-one storage system that provides local-type performance for users, along with a scalable and cost-effective private cloud solution, helps organizations solve their most complex storage challenges.”

Cleversafe’s dsNet® object-based storage solution uses a patented, geographically dispersed erasure coding algorithm that stores data as virtualized and encrypted “slices” that are spread across multiple independent storage nodes in a cloud. With dispersed object storage, the need for data replication and RAID is eliminated, which reduces capital and operating expenses while improving data uptime and security. This approach also enhances the availability of data through toleration of multiple, simultaneous drive, node, site and/or network failures while maintaining continuous access to data.

Using Cleversafe as the primary storage pool, Nasuni Filers facilitate traditional NAS and block access to a single, master dataset shared across the world. Nasuni combines distributed access with centralized control, enabling unified access to data while simplifying infrastructure and lowering costs. Local Nasuni Filers cache frequently accessed data and provide local performance, while Cleversafe’s dsNet storage – deployed across many data centers – acts as the central hub.
“Our customers are telling us that yesterday’s storage architectures don’t scale and are way too expensive. In response, we have developed a software solution that manages data at scale with 100 percent of the reliability and resilience of a legacy system at half the cost,” said Peter Howard, Vice President of Channels and Alliances, Cleversafe. “Our combined solution with Nasuni allows our customers to easily deploy these solutions without the headaches and the additional costs.”
