“I am thrilled to have Yael on board as this is a critical step in our journey to become the next, great storage company,” said Klein. “Yael brings deep domain experience and tremendous marketing leadership helping some of the most successful companies in our industry scale through hyper growth and achieve market leading positions. She also has a track record of attracting talent and building high performing teams that deliver amazing results.”

“With server virtualisation technology, VMware profoundly changed the computing industry and created a new virtualisation ecosystem,” said Zheng. “Yet with all the dramatic changes in computing and the cloud, there has been remarkably little innovation in storage. This explains why Tintri’s storage purpose built for virtualised environments and cloud has struck a chord with customers. As a company with an interesting story to tell, products loved by an adoring and rapidly growing customer base and a ripe opportunity to unseat incumbents, I can’t think of a better team to join.”

Over her long marketing and engineering career, Zheng has helped propel companies to market leadership. As vice president of marketing at VMware, she led the corporate and worldwide marketing teams and drove key initiatives that supported the company's tremendous growth from a multi-hundred million dollar company to a post-IPO multi-billion dollar company and the undisputed leader in virtualisation. Prior to VMware, Zheng held numerous senior management positions at Sun Microsystems, including leading the marketing team for Sun’s highly successful service provider business unit. She has also provided strategic marketing consulting to a number of the industry's fastest growing companies including Cloudera and Medallia.

Zheng holds a Bachelor of Science in Materials Science and Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a MBA from UC Berkeley Haas School of Business.
