Paragon Internet Group selects Emerson Network Power

Emerson Network Power’s thermal management and power data centre technologies underpin Paragon’s strong growth from start-up to leading online services company.

Emerson Network Power has been selected as a trusted technical solutions provider to online technology company Paragon Internet Group, as it marks the completion of its dedicated state-of-the-art, multi-million pound Tier 3+ 2N data centre in Slough, Berkshire.

Experiencing significant business growth, Paragon Internet Group, parent company of leading UK hosting brands Tsohost™, Vidahost™ and HostRoute™, saw its cloud hosting business grow by 277 percent in 2013. As a result, the company began to plan and design its own data centre infrastructure, which would offer unparalleled control over its business operations, ensuring the uptime, performance and security its 55,000+ global customers have come to expect.

In order to guarantee the highest level of resilience, Paragon selected best-of-breed technology partners for each aspect of the infrastructure, choosing Emerson Network Power to deliver solutions spanning thermal management and UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply).

The new 20,000 square foot facility has the capacity for 120 high density racks, which will significantly expand Paragon’s existing network and help facilitate its rapid growth. Within the facility, Paragon has deployed Emerson Network Power’s Liebert® PDX data centre cooling units, together with Trinergy™ UPS systems, which not only maximise energy efficiency, but guarantee enterprise-standard reliability and flexibility, backed up by industry-leading direct expansion cooling technologies. Emerson Network Power’s Liebert PDX solutions have also increased the facility’s Power Utilisation Effectiveness (PUE) and significantly lowered its environmental impact. Moreover Trinergy UPS, which is ideally suited to enterprise-scale data centre facilities, provides Paragon with real-time insights into power supply and load conditions. By automatically selecting the most efficient operating mode, the Trinergy systems have ensured that Paragon is seeing lower energy consumption as well as a reduction in CO2 emissions.

“Paragon Internet Group has experienced exponential business growth, without the help of venture capital funding. Therefore building our own data centre infrastructure was the next logical step for our combined online businesses, as we continue to concentrate on delivering unbeatable customer support and technical expertise, while focusing on global expansion,” said Adam Smith, director, Paragon Internet Group. “Emerson Network Power is renowned for its enterprise-grade data centre solutions. We wanted to ensure that as well as installing professional-grade hardware, we partnered with a provider who could work with us to deliver true expertise and industry knowledge. Emerson Network Power quickly became an obvious choice in order to support the data centre build, which is ultimately future-proofing our core business.”

“With Paragon Internet Group, we had an exciting opportunity to work with the organisation from day one of the process, in order to design and build a state-of-the-art data centre from the ground up. Our solutions are designed to enable expansion and scalability of load growth in the future, offering a distinct return on investment to Paragon,” said Michael O'Keeffe, UK managing director, Emerson Network Power. “We have been proud to be a part of the process as they have grown from essentially a start-up Internet company to a fully-fledged online technology business which continues to go from strength to strength.”

Paragon Internet Group formed in 2011 with the combination of several online businesses, including popular web-hosting companies supporting both personal and business user websites. The directors joined forces to create a single service dedicated to delivering unbeatable customer support from a team of technically led staff.
