Minkels expands UK Partner Network with MPower

Minkels has added a new service partner to its UK partner network. The company, MPower, is an experienced Uninterruptable Power Supply (UPS) services company that will provide Minkels UPS installation, commissioning and maintenance services across the UK.

The appointment of MPower as a services partner for Minkels UPSs in the UK, coincides with the introduction of Minkels UPS System in the country - a solution that was initially launched last year. Minkels UPS System offers modular structured power capacity from 20 to 120 kVA and is intended for small and medium-sized server rooms. The UPS solution is specifically developed for energy-efficient data centre operations and is well-suited for row-based applications in cold aisle containment.

As a data centre solutions vendor, Minkels has a partner program in place with a variety of partners in multiple countries serving different product segments and markets. Minkels already has several partners in the UK, but current partners are focused on the company’s segment of cooling solutions. MPower is the first partner to serve Minkels’ UPS business in the UK. The new partner will provide UPS installation, commissioning and maintenance services only, as Minkels is selling its UPS System mainly through its solutions partners to end-clients.

UPS commissioning services
“The addition of MPower to our partner base in the UK will reinforce the quality of UPS service delivery in the country,” said Jeroen Hol, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Minkels. “MPower is fully dedicated to the UPS market and their employees bring extensive knowledge to our existing UK partner network. Now that MPower is appointed for delivering UPS services, we believe this is the right time to officially introduce Minkels UPS System in the UK.”

MPower is Minkels’ first partner to provide UPS services in the UK. New partners will be added when needed. Minkels already has appointed UPS services partners in the Benelux, a market where Minkels UPS System was introduced last year. The data centre solutions vendor expects to add more UPS-focused partners in Europe soon, as the roll out of Minkels UPS System in Europe currently takes place.

“MPower is definitely the right partner for providing UPS services throughout the UK,” said Jules Sommers, Product Manager, Minkels. “Their engineers are very knowledgeable which caters to the needs of our clients and the knowledge-intensive support they expect from us as a leading brand data centre solutions vendor. The services provided by MPower will ensure that our clients have a safe and optimal UPS user experience that suits the expectations of enterprise-grade data centre users.”

Cold Corridor integration
The Minkels UPS System was originally developed by Minkels’ parent organization Legrand, a global specialist in UPSs and power distribution products with a yearly turnover of 4.4 billion Euros. Minkels R&D then added data centre specific modifications to the solution, to turn it into an integrated UPS concept that is optimised for demanding data centre environments. The end-result is a UPS System that is fully suitable for Cold Corridor configurations in server rooms.

Minkels UPS System has undergone severe testing to make sure that the row-based use in Cold Corridor settings, with hot and cold aisle zone conditions, doesn’t negatively affect the UPS technology. The exploratory tests proved that modifications to the original Legrand system were done right. Also, these tests resulted in additional knowledge to be shared with Minkels’ UPS clients. Minkels sees the test results as a guarantee for users looking for UPS systems that can function at its optimum in a Cold Corridor specific data centre situation.
