Spiceworks says that Sanjay Castelino has joined the company as its new vice president of Marketing. In his role, Castelino will oversee Spiceworks’ marketing efforts across its demand generation, product marketing, branding, public and analyst relations, and creative services functions.
“As the professional network for IT, Spiceworks has a unique opportunity to transform a $3 trillion industry with a platform that connects IT professionals and technology brands in entirely new ways,” said Scott Abel, co-founder and CEO of Spiceworks. “Sanjay’s experience will help us increase our market presence while accelerating new initiatives that are vital to our long-term growth.”

Castelino was previously a vice president at SolarWinds where he led demand generation, go-to-market strategy, and execution for the company’s Networking, Virtualization, Storage, and Security Information and Event Management divisions. During his tenure at SolarWinds, he was instrumental in helping the company build and refine it’s go-to-market strategies and positioning following its initial public offering (IPO) in May 2009. Previously, Castelino worked at NetStreams, Motive, A.T. Kearney and Accenture. He holds a Bachelor of Sciences degree in Computer and Electrical Engineering from Purdue University and an MBA from Cornell University.

“Spiceworks is revolutionizing how IT professionals connect with one another and the technology brands they buy from,” said Castelino. “It’s an exciting time to join a team that’s already executing, focused on delivering value to IT professionals and technology companies, and has the opportunity to change an entire industry.”

Additionally, co-founder and former vice president of Marketing Jay Hallberg has become Spiceworks’ first chief operating officer overseeing Spiceworks’ Marketing, Sales and Media Operations groups.
