Databarracks has been named ‘Cloud Company of the Year’ at the annual SVC awards, for driving innovation and quality of service within the cloud sector. The awards took place on Thursday 21 November, at a gala dinner at the Jumeirah Carlton Tower in London. The Storage, Virtualization, Cloud (SVC) Awards recognises products, projects and services as well as honouring companies and teams operating in the cloud, virtualisation and storage sectors. In the highly contested category, which featured 10 other leading cloud providers, Databarracks was voted Cloud Company of the Year.
Peter Groucutt, Managing Director of Databarracks, commented: “Being named Cloud Company of the Year is a great honour for all of the team – but the fact that it was voted for by our customers and peers is especially humbling.
“2013 is our tenth year providing cloud services. We began providing online backup in 2003 and we've since expanded our services to include infrastructure and disaster recovery.
“In this time, cloud computing has fundamentally changed the way organisations buy and use their IT. Organisations of all sizes are moving away from traditional on-premise IT infrastructures to hosted environments. It is one of the biggest changes to computer thinking in modern history. Our services have developed and expanded, but our attitude is still the same as it was in 2003. We strive to be the kind of company we would want to do business with ourselves. To be voted Cloud Company of the Year by our customers is the ultimate validation.”
Franziska Priebe, Marketing Manager of award organisers Angel Business Communications, says: “This year we have had not only a significant increase in the overall number of nominations but also in the total votes received. The SVC Awards recognise the users, manufacturers and suppliers operating in the cloud, virtualisation and storage sectors and are voted for by the readers of our wide range of print and online publications. All finalists did well in making the shortlist but Databarracks was the clear winner in its category ‘Cloud Company of the Year’.”
