Schneider Electric UK IT executives complete charity ride raising over £6,000 for charity

A team of 10 executives from Schneider Electric’s UK IT Business have successfully completed their fundraising challenge of riding from Coast to Coast raising money for the Teenage Cancer Trust Charity.

The team began the ride in Whithaven on Friday September 12th and completed the journey in Tynemouth on Sunday September 14th. Over the 3 days, the riders covered 245km and climbed over 4,000m as they made their way across the country.

Richard Irwin, General Service Manager, Schneider Electric UK, who is led the riders said “The Coast to Coast route was a fantastic but challenging ride across some of Britain’s most spectacular countryside. I’m very proud of the entire team as it’s far from easy. We’re also delighted to have, so far, raised over £6,000 for charity. The team gelled particularly well and we only had a small number of minor mechanical issues along the way. Even the weather was mostly kind apart from 40mph winds on the final morning”.

The Coast to Coast ride is a popular challenge amongst cyclists and tourists as it passes through the Lake District and crosses the Pennines threading its way from the West to East Coast of England. A gruelling charity challenge has now become an annual event for Schneider Electric’s UK IT leadership team that combines raising funds for a worthy cause with a physically demanding quest.

Dale Wrangles, VP for Schneider Electric’s UK IT business said “The Coast to Coast has been a great event for us to raise awareness for the Teenage Cancer Trust. It’s an important cause and it’s also been a great opportunity for a group of our team to work together to complete a tough challenge. We have a great team of people in our business and it’s been great to see them push themselves to complete a far from an easy journey. As a business we also have a strong commitment to environmental efficiency and sustainability, so cycling made perfect sense for this challenge”.
