Borri delivers big savings

A Borri Ltd high efficiency B9000FXS Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) solution is now providing substantial annual savings for VOW Europe Ltd, the UK and Ireland’s leading wholesalers of business products.

To be located at VOW’s headquarters in Sheffield, the new high efficiency 80kVA B9000FXS UPS equipment has replaced an old Borri 200kVA UPS unit, which was coming to the end of its lifespan having provided reliable back-up support for over 15 years.

Utilising the very best technologies, Borri’s B9000FXS series is predicted to achieve a 40% increase in efficiency, which gives an overall unit efficiency of 93% at current load.

Now supporting VOW’s complex IT infrastructure and unusually positioned within an external purpose built area, the new Borri B9000FXS was installed within a very tight timeframe over a single weekend period. Borri also removed the obsolete UPS equipment and safely disposed of its lead acid batteries.

VOW’s group facilities manager, Nicola Dawes commented: “The installation ran very smoothly. We were particularly impressed with the professionalism of Borri’s engineers and their conscientiousness. They even cleaned up immaculately after themselves, which was a refreshing change to standard contractor practices.

“We have held a maintenance contract with Borri for a number of years and have never been let down. The quality of not only the company’s service but also its UPS products is exceptional. We had no hesitation in purchasing another Borri unit as the previous one performed very well. We were however, surprised to learn of the additional efficiency gains that a newer UPS system could deliver. Based on our experience we would recommend that others with UPS systems over 10 years old have their efficiency reviewed. Technology has moved on and other businesses could also benefit from significant financial savings.”

Designed to have a negligible effect on the mains supply, providing less than 3% harmonic distortion, the Borri B9000FXS offers AC/AC efficiency of 95%, which is 15% higher than conventional UPS systems and provides savings of 2.8kW per hour on an 80kVA installation.

VOW also has a comprehensive maintenance contract with Borri for its newest UPS unit as well as a 100kVA system. In addition, all of Borri’s three phase UPS solutions come with a three year manufacturers’ warranty, which provides all the company’s customers including VOW with generous total cost of ownership savings.
