Dell and OnApp launch pre-tested Cloud packages for Service Providers

OnApp has partnered with Dell to create three pre-tested cloud packages for service providers, providing a simple and reliable way for hosting companies, MSPs and telcos to create cloud services and take them to market as quickly as possible.

The packages provide a complete virtual infrastructure for public and private cloud services. They combine a fully-managed installation of the OnApp Cloud platform with racks, servers, networking, power and cabling from Dell, and include Dell ProSupport™ for all hardware and OnApp's 24x7 support service for OnApp Cloud.

“At Dell we’ve always believed in the power of technology of help organisations of every size, location & industry do more," says Paul Brook, Programme Manager at Dell. "To accomplish this, over the last three years we’ve undergone a company-wide transformation. In the process, we’ve accelerated the transition from being a vendor that delivers efficient & inexpensive ‘boxes’ to a partner that provides solutions addressing the end-to-end needs and shifting priorities of our customers.”

Initially, three options are available giving service providers the option of building clouds based on OnApp Storage, the distributed SAN included with OnApp Cloud; Dell EqualLogic iSCSI storage; or Dell Compellent Fibre Channel storage. The result is a complete 'cloud business in a box,' so service providers can avoid the usual headaches and heavy lifting of building cloud infrastructure from scratch.

“This is the combination we'd been waiting for," said Peter Duggal, Managing Director for UK cloud provider nativespace. "Pre-tested hardware makes so much sense when you’re planning and building a cloud service. The new Dell and OnApp packages make deployment much faster and offer predictable stability and performance, with full support – which helps us guarantee SLAs for our cloud customers.”

Kosten Metreweli, OnApp’s Chief Commercial Officer, says “Our approach has always been about making it as fast, painless and cost efficient as possible for service providers to bring cloud services to market and become profitable. Dell is a great partner because they’ve put a lot of thought into how their hardware can best support our customers. Our goal is to eliminate barriers to success in the cloud market, and now we can offer a complete package to get the job done quickly, without the hassle of worrying about the specific hardware config you need.”
