Nearly half of European data centres have no energy efficiency objectives in place

Research, commissioned by The Green Grid, has found that while the majority of organisations are facing growing pressures to improve the efficiency of their data centres, 43 per cent of those surveyed have no energy efficiency objectives in place. Furthermore, 97 per cent felt that they could improve their monitoring capabilities.  This disconnect between goals and an understanding of the measures needed to make effective change, puts the ability of organisations to manage their IT (Information Technology) resources at risk.

Johnson Controls, the global diversified technology and multi-industrial leader, has won a significant contract to provide an innovative cooling solution at Finland’s largest open data center being built for Telia Finland, the leading new generation telco in the Nordics and Baltics.
Borderlight AB, a leading supplier of advanced IT and Telecom services to the public sector and industry sectors, has decided to build a new data center with large scale heat reuse in cooperation with Europe’s leading district heating operator Fortum V?rme in Stockholm, Sweden. With full IT load, the implementation will run at more than 5 MW and heat some 10,000 modern residential apartments.
