Targa Telematics enhances connectivity with Equinix data centre move

Targa Telematics, an AIoT company focused on connected mobility solutions, has migrated its infrastructure to the data centres operated by Equinix, a global digital infrastructure provider. The move is intended to enhance operational continuity, strengthen security, and support scalable service delivery while maintaining a focus on sustainability.

This migration is part of Targa Telematics’ broader technology strategy, aimed at improving performance, resilience, and long-term investment protection. The infrastructure, hosted in Equinix’s Milan and Frankfurt (ML5 and FR4) facilities, is designed to scale with business growth, reduce operational risks, and maintain high standards of efficiency and reliability.

Equinix operates 280 data centres across 36 countries and 77 industry sectors, enabling Targa Telematics to expand into new regions while meeting global data sovereignty and residency requirements.

Sustainability was a key consideration in selecting Equinix. The company invests in technologies to optimise energy consumption, increase renewable energy use, and implement heat recovery projects. Its sustainability practices are supported by internationally recognised certifications, including ISO 14001, ISO 50001, and inclusion in the CDP Climate Change A-List.

Targa Telematics’ use of Equinix data centres provides access to certified sustainability metrics that can be incorporated into the company’s ESG reporting.

Equinix data centres provide uptime exceeding 99.999%, with redundant critical systems and ISO 22301-certified operational processes, offering a secure and resilient infrastructure. Security measures include biometric access controls, continuous video surveillance, multi-level security checks, and globally recognised security and privacy protocols.

The migration was carried out with the support of Gruppo Zenit, a Managed Service Provider and long-term partner of Targa Telematics. Gruppo Zenit assisted with architecture planning, migration management, and ongoing environment monitoring. Structured workload analysis and live migration strategies enabled a smooth transition with minimal disruption, ensuring business continuity. Gruppo Zenit continues to provide 24/7 operational support, including infrastructure and application monitoring, Network Operations Centre (NOC) services, incident, patch, and backup management.
