OVHcloud expands its European footprint with new data region in Berlin

OVHcloud strengthens its European presence by unveiling a new three-availability-zone region in Berlin, enhancing security and resilience.

OVHcloud, a prominent name in the European cloud industry, has bolstered its operations in Germany with the introduction of a 3-AZ region in Berlin. Following in the footsteps of successful deployments in France and Italy, Berlin marks the third European region of its kind, solidifying OVHcloud's commitment to offering robust digital infrastructure across the continent.

Describing the strategic move, Octave Klaba, the founder and CEO of OVHcloud, emphasized the importance of digital sovereignty, stating, "Our new 3-AZ region in Berlin will strengthen the security and resilience of European digital infrastructures... European digital sovereignty is not built with isolated champions, but with systems players capable of operating on an international scale." With this deployment, the company aims to serve a diverse range of industries irrespective of their size or sector.

The 3-AZ setup is particularly designed for crucial applications that demand high availability and resilience. Each region consists of three distinct Availability Zones, situated at considerable distances from each other. These zones benefit from separate power supplies and network setups, ensuring reduced latency and enhanced service reliability—especially critical for areas like finance, healthcare, and public services.

This venture not only enhances OVHcloud's capability in Germany, where it already runs two other data centres, but also fortifies its reputation as a trusted partner among significant public and private entities, including Commerz Real, ITSC, and the Bundespolizei.

Looking to the future, OVHcloud remains committed to developing more 3-AZ regions across Europe. Such expansions underline the company's resolve to provide top-tier cloud infrastructure, where resilience and security are paramount. Enthusiasm is high for future rollout in various other European cities, reinforcing OVHcloud's position in the global cloud computing field.
