Asperitas launches intelligent, modular Direct Forced Convection product line

Thermal management expert Asperitas is launching its DFCX series, a product line designed for standalone edge facilities through to and including hyper scaled datacentres, doing so with unparalleled performance, reliability and efficiency. In response to real-world demands, the technology is designed to integrate with a broad spectrum of OEM manufacturers for seamless integration, for any use case.

Currently, the growth limit for digital infrastructure, particularly in meeting sustainable development goals (SDGs) and ensuring energy efficiency for high-density workloads, remains rooted in power availability. By eliminating cooling as a limitation, the Asperitas Direct Forced Convection (DFC) technology allows high-power-density workloads –including artificial intelligence, big data analytics, and high-performance computing, to thrive. The DFCX series marks a significant advancement in immersion cooling technology, catering to the evolving demands of AI-driven workloads and high-performance computing environments with reduced overheads. With modular cluster architecture ranging from 12U upwards in each tank, and support for supercluster configurations with multiple tanks and CDUs, the DFCX line sets a new standard for compatibility and scalability.

Rutger de Haij, Asperitas CEO, commented, “Reliability and seamless integration are at the forefront of Asperitas’ core values in product development, so we're thrilled to announce the DFCX product line. We’re driving successful digital infrastructure growth with our Perpetual Natural Convection(PNC) and DFCX technology, especially now in what many call the accelerated decade where AI has an impact on the full stack. The unparalleled performance of our technology ensures datacentre operators can meet and exceed the needs of modern workloads while driving down costs and energy consumption. Through extensive research and industry engagement, we understand that real-world demand is shifting toward hybrid setups, and our products answer this need.”

Alongside its modularity, key features of the DFCX series includeunprecedented cooling performance, advanced control and high efficiency. Customersbenefit from these features while minimising power overhead. The debut solutionfrom the new product line offers the highest cooling performance in a 12Uimmersion cooling tank unit with integrated CDU. It supports cooling up to5kW/U and well over 1kW per chip. A single DFCX1 solution supports compute clustersof 3x4U system nodes, with a total of 24 GPUs with targeted flow and up to 60kWof cooling capacity. This solution is both powerful and future-proofed for thedigital infrastructure landscape, supporting an extensive range of networkswitches and cable management options for the customer.

The Asperitas DFCX1 solution will be displayed at Cisco Live2025 with Cisco compute and immersed in Shell’s Immersion Cooling Fluid. Asperitas and Shell are long standing partners and launched the first immersion cooling fluid together in 2020. Since then, Asperitas has been offering Shell’s dielectric fluid to their customers, which is designed for large volume deployments from a fluid, supply, and delivery perspective. The full solution creates value for organisations building out highly performant environments to meet their business requirements now, while readying them for accelerated demand. Leveraging embedded Asperitas IP, the platform delivers targeted precision cooling across silicon and chassis, unlocking peak efficiency and performance for datacentres operating under growing workloads and environmental pressures.

"Asperitas continues to lead in sustainable digital infrastructure, supported by our involvement in key initiatives like the European 8ra program (formerly IPCEI Cloud Infrastructure)" added Dr. Andy Young, CTO of Asperitas. "Natural and forced convection technologies are our expertise, and the DFCX1 achieves a cooling density that exceeds the power density, without excessive overheads. We're excited to share that additional products in the DFCX line will soon be introduced to further support the evolving needs of digital infrastructure. Ultimately, Asperitas is setting the standard on Thermal Design Power cooling capability.”
