Pure Data Centres completes substructure in London

Work begins on the steel superstructure of second London data centre – marked with a signing ceremony.

Pure Data Centres has completed the groundworks and substructure for its second facility in Brent Cross, London.

The project, which will take overall capacity at the London campus to 90MW, will now move to a second phase, with installation of steelwork for the superstructure.

To celebrate this significant milestone, a steel signing ceremony took place at the Brent Cross site. Pure DC’s employees, partners, investors and representatives from Mace Group, the General Contractor leading this phase of the build, took the opportunity to sign the steels before they are put into place, marking their collective contribution to this landmark project.

This event highlights the collaboration and dedication of everyone involved in bringing this new facility to life.

Pure DC’s new building is on the same site and adjacent to a 20MW facility, comprising four data halls, which reached full operating capacity earlier this year. The completion of Data Halls 3 and 4 marked the company’s first fully available customer-occupied data centre.

Dame Dawn Childs, Chief Executive of Pure DC, said: “Our second data centre in London has reached a significant milestone, with all earthworks, excavations and deep foundations now in place.

We are now looking forward to seeing the next stage of construction unfold, incorporating some next-generation engineering and design solutions for our customers.”

Pure’s next campus due to transition into live operations is located in Yas Island, Abu Dhabi, which will provide 45MW of capability. It is due to complete its first phase in early 2025 and will be Pure DC’s first venture in the Middle East.

Pure DC has achieved 100% availability for all of its hyperscale customers so far, not only in London but also in its live sites in Jakarta and Dublin.
