NED boosts senior team with two new hires

Israeli data centre operator shows strength in the market through two new hires.

NED, the innovative Middle East Data Centre operator, has appointed two key industry players, Dani Simis and Gerard Thibault, to its senior team.

Dani Simis joins NED as CTO after 26 years at Bezeq International, where he established several of the most advanced data centres in Israel and was overseeing projects including the implementation of the Israel-Italy subsea cables. Gerard Thibault will take the role of special advisor. Gerard is the former CTO of Kao Data, a leading UK-based data centre developer and operator, and will serve as an advisory board member at NED and a special advisor to Project Alpha, NED’s first data centre project.

Working directly with co-founders David Bloom, Daniel Efrati, and Shelly Landsmann, the new recruits join NED at an exciting time as the firm looks to acquire a second site and develop its presence further across the region and beyond.

In November 2022 NED, which is backed by Goldacre, announced a JV with the Levinstein Group. This JV is to build on the 13,500sqm site in the northern Tel Aviv metro area within the city of Netanya, with construction beginning this year. The £145 million site, known as Project Alpha, will bring life sciences and research development facilities to the region. The Levinstein Group, a leading Israeli engineering, construction and real estate listed public company, has 75 years of successful development in the country, dealing in profitable commerce and office real estate. The company will work with Goldacre and NED to use its proven track record developing specialised projects to deliver the site.

Daniel Efrati, CEO and co-founder of NED, said: “We are thrilled to have such experienced and knowledgeable members join NED as we continue to grow. Their expertise will be instrumental in the future success of NED, particularly at this stage of our company’s development. As we look to acquire a second site and to expand our offering internationally, the capabilities that Dani and Gerard will bring to this will be invaluable.”
