Host-IT expands capacity with new Birmingham data centre

Host-IT has announced the further expansion of its UK colocation, rack space, cloud and web hosting services with the opening of a data centre in Birmingham.

Host-IT’s new secure ISO 27001, Tier 3 facility is strategically located in central Birmingham, close to the major fibre networks traversing the UK and various regional fibre providers. There is currently 6MW of IT power available to site with the potential to increase this to 12MW.

“The opening of our new Birmingham data centre represents a significant investment in the future growth of our business and, more importantly, in the security and reliability of our customers’ data,” said Andrew Willis, Managing Director, Host-IT. “Our state-of-the-art facility is equipped with the latest technology and infrastructure to provide businesses and service providers with enhanced speed, scalability, and security. We have a dedicated team of experts on-site backed up by our existing NOC, to ensure customers continue to receive the same responsive level of support and monitoring.”

Commented Jon Duggan, Managing Director of IT Services provider, Ashgoal: “We have relied on Host-IT for server colocation for over 10 years. Their growing data centre footprint in key UK locations and the wide choice of low latency connectivity available to site from major carriers and local providers is essential to our service delivery and competitive advantage.”

Host-IT has been developing and hosting web sites and operating its own data centres since 1995. The company supports many types of clients both technical and non-technical including SMEs, large multi- nationals, local authorities, police forces not for profit organisations, IT service providers, and web development companies.
